Watch Out For

FBA First-Leg Rejections Usually Come Down to These Three Things

We’ve run e-commerce ourselves, so we know where the warehouse trips you up

Rejection Risk · Inbound

Amazon Inbound Rules

The hard part: if carton size and weight, FNSKU labels or inbound appointment slots don’t match the rules, the warehouse can reject the shipment or add fees

How we handle it: we check your carton specs and labels against Amazon’s current rules — we’ve run e-commerce ourselves, so we know where the warehouse actually trips you up

Cost Trap · Chargeable Weight

First-Leg Cost

The hard part: light, bulky cargo is billed by volumetric weight — skip the conversion and you’ll underestimate your first-leg cost and miss your budget

How we handle it: we work out volumetric vs. actual weight before shipping and quote sea and air options together, so your first-leg cost is clear in one look

Hold-Up Risk · Duties & Taxes

DDP / DDU

The hard part: under DDP the shipper covers import duties and taxes and completes clearance; mix up DDP and DDU and you get stuck at customs in the destination country

How we handle it: the first-leg ships DDP — duties, taxes and clearance before the cargo reaches the warehouse are all handled by Jumping Freight, so you don’t have to file taxes locally

Amazon inbound carton specs and labeling rules follow the current Seller Central guidelines.

FAQ

Before You Do FBA, Get the First-Leg Right

DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means the seller is responsible all the way to the destination, including duty and clearance. The FBA first-leg ships DDP — all duties, taxes and clearance before the cargo reaches the warehouse are handled by Jumping Freight, so you don’t have to file taxes locally.

Label specs, carton weight and size, and inbound appointment slots all have rules — break them and the shipment gets rejected or hit with extra fees. Jumping Freight checks it against the latest rules for you.

For a new product launch on a tight timeline, go air; for bulk restocks, go sea to save cost. Jumping Freight recommends the mix based on your go-live schedule and budget.

First-leg cost is based on chargeable weight (the greater of volumetric or actual weight) plus destination duty. Jumping Freight works out your chargeable weight first, estimates the DDP duty-inclusive cost, and lays the whole quote out in one go.

Yes. FNSKU labeling, carton markings, and re-labeling on returns can all be handled for you, so the cargo meets the inbound rules before it goes to the warehouse.

Air takes a few days, sea takes a few weeks — plus the time for the Amazon warehouse to receive and list the goods. Jumping Freight works backward from your go-live schedule to pin down the ship date.

Yes. Inbound locations, taxes (the EU needs VAT, the US needs clearance, for example) and document rules differ by marketplace, and splitting the work across different forwarders is an easy way to get it wrong. Jumping Freight coordinates the first-leg across multiple marketplaces using our offices in China, the US, Taiwan and overseas, so you don’t have to deal with each country separately.

Still not clear? Either way works

FBA first-leg rules are fiddly — it comes down to whether someone walks you through them. Figure it out yourself first, or just ask us
