Importing from China

Importing from China — we know the cross-strait pitfalls best

LCL, FCL, bonded warehousing, and pickup consolidation — import clearance from the Pearl River Delta to the Yangtze River Delta. We tell you the transit time up front, so you're not left waiting.

Bonded Warehousing & Transshipment

Bonded storage and transshipment trade, to ease your cash flow and the timing of your tax obligations

03

China-Side Pickup & Consolidation

What to watch for

Three things that hold up most China imports

Offices across China, Taiwan and beyond — we confirm it first

Hold-up risk · Import rules

Import rules on Chinese-origin goods

The hard part: certain Chinese-origin goods must meet Taiwan's permitted-import rules or need an import permit — skip the check and they get sent back

How we handle it: send us the product description first; our offices across China and Taiwan confirm feasibility and the paperwork needed before we arrange shipment

Cost trap · Container type

LCL consolidation timing

The hard part: below a full container, LCL is usually cheaper — but you have to work the volume and the consolidation schedule, and if it doesn't fill, you wait

How we handle it: with our China-side consolidation warehouses and fixed sailing slots, we work out whether LCL or FCL is the better deal and when it'll consolidate

Transit time · Sailing routes

China-to-Taiwan transit days

The hard part: China-to-Taiwan ocean freight typically runs 5–8 working days, but the real number shifts with the route, space and clearance — miscalculate it and you'll list your product too early

How we handle it: we give you a transit-time range based on the actual route, flag the key dates ahead of time, and switch urgent shipments to air freight

Rules on Chinese-origin goods follow the current-year notices from Taiwan's International Trade Administration (Ministry of Economic Affairs); transit times depend on the actual route and cargo conditions.

FAQ

Importing from China? Get the answers first

LCL is roughly 5–8 working days to Taiwan, plus 1–2 days for delivery after clearance; FCL is more reliable on timing, and urgent shipments can switch to air freight. Actual times depend on sailings and cargo conditions.

Food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, electronics and telecoms, and battery-containing items all carry import rules or inspection requirements. Send us the product description first and we'll confirm feasibility and the paperwork needed.

With FCL you have a container to yourself and reliable timing; with LCL you share a container with others, pay by volume, and it suits smaller loads. We work out which is the better deal for you.

Import duties and taxes are calculated from the HS classification and the customs value (goods + freight + insurance). With our clearance experience, we classify the tariff code and estimate the duty up front, so you avoid a misclassification that leads to a back-tax claim. Final amounts are as assessed by Customs.

Goods from multiple suppliers can come into our China-side consolidation warehouse first, then ship back to Taiwan combined into one consolidation or container — it saves on freight and is easier to manage; fixed sailing schedules make arrival more predictable.

No. We coordinate both ends — China-side export and Taiwan-side import clearance and transport — so you don't have to deal with a China forwarder and a Taiwan customs broker at the same time.

It comes down to which name you import under. Occasional personal-name imports have a duty-free allowance and a frequency cap (such as six times per recipient in six months); past that, the exemption stops and each shipment is taxed. If you're a seller or trader bringing goods in frequently, we'd suggest importing properly under a company name — you're taxed on the actual goods value either way, you build the duty into your costs, and it's actually the most stable, with no surprise back-tax. We help you decide which approach to file under, so you don't trip the frequency limit. Final amounts are as assessed by Customs.

Simplified clearance suits low-value, personal-use small loads — the process is fast and the paperwork is light, but you usually don't get the formal import documents you'd need to claim a tax credit; formal clearance declares the real value under a company name, issues a Taiwan VAT invoice, and lets your import tax become a creditable input — right for commercial goods you need to book.

The call is simple: personal use, small load, no bookkeeping → simplified clearance is enough; need an invoice, need the credit, ongoing commercial use → go formal. We help you decide which your goods should take, so you don't save a little now and lose the ability to book it later. Final terms are as set by Customs.
